Erie History Center building was renovated in the spring of 1992 to serve as the headquarters of the Erie County Historical Society and the Erie Society for Genealogical Research. It contains an exhibit gallery focusing on local industry and architecture plus a comprehensive library and archives of county history.
The complex includes the 1839 Cashiers House, a Greek Revival townhouse which served as the residence for the Cashier or Chief Officer of the United States Bank located next door. It is listed on the National Register and contains furnishings of the period.
