The Society's goal is to arouse interest in local history and historic preservation through education, publications, meetings and events. Since its inception, the Society has grown to include more than 550 members and a permanent museum. It has established itself as one of the area's most active organizations. The Society publishes a bi-monthly newsletter and sponsors and holds museum celebrations for Memorial Day and Christmas.
Changing exhibits and research material are available for study at the Society's Museum and Library, located at 116 East Campbell Street in Blairsville. The office is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, or by appointment.
Thanks to the strong commitment of its members and the community, the Historical Society of the Blairsville Area plans to play a continuing role in preserving Blairsville's past and building its future.
