Erie Maritime Museum, Homeport U.S. Brig Niagara, 150 East Front Street. As the homeport of Pennsylvania's official flagship, the museum offers the story of the Niagara from the reconstruction of the warship that won the Battle of Lake Erie in the War of 1812. A range of multi-media and interactive exhibits coupled with lively interpretive programs vividly illustrate and teach Niagara's history and the region's rich maritime heritage.
When in homeport, Niagara is a major "exhibit," berthed within yards of the museum. Other exhibits tell the story of the USS Wolverine, the nation's first iron-hulled warship; the environmental transformation of the Great Lakes ecosystems; former electric -generating steam turbine, one of two left of this model.
