In 1999, the Conneaut Lake Area Historical Society was established as a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the area's history. With an active membership of over 200, the society has continued to hold monthly meetings and events that educate and share in this heritage.
Conneaut Lake Area Historical Society's publications include:
- A beautifully reprinted 1907 Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad book featuring numerous photos of early Conneaut Lake Park. The 24-page book contains scenes of the area, including hotels Conneaut and Virginia, the fairgrounds, and views of the lake and shoreline. A history of the railroad's venture into the Park is also included.
- Historic Deck Of Cards, displaying a different scene on each of the 52 cards, and two joker cards with the Hilton Twins, once captains of the Barbara J. Scenes ranging from historic buildings to boats to Fairyland Forest to Conneaut Lake Park rides. "A Lovely Spot" is a 1914 Bessemer Railroad promotional book featuring turn-of-the-century scenes of Conneaut Lake, including the Park. "Sailing Through Time" navigation history of Conneaut Lake by Don Hilton.
Membership dues are $5.00 per year (January to January) and $150 for a lifetime membership. Memorials, contributions, and in-kind services are tax-deductible as we are a 501(c) nonprofit organization.

Museums or Landmarks
The historic Conneaut Lake Community Hall and former Police Station now serves as the Conneaut Lake Area Historical Museum with hundreds of photos and artifacts.
