The museum which portrays the life and career of George Westinghouse, is focused on his career, accomplishments and inventions. For half a century, probably the most important half-century in industrial history, George Westinghouse was in the forefront of developments that revolutionized the world. His inventions of the air brake, friction draft gear and related apparatus hastened the growth of railroads when they were becoming the economic lifeline of the nation. He pioneered in the development of railway signaling and interlocking switches. He developed a system of transmitting and using natural gas for lighting and heating. He was the entrepreneur who brought to the nation and the world the alternating-current system of generating and transmitting electricity for power and light.

The Museum in his honor is not only a tribute to George Westinghouse, one of the world's foremost inventors and entrepreneurs, it is likewise a tribute to the thousands of people who have collaborated with the Westinghouse for so many years.

Attention!

Unfortunately, the museum is permanently closed, but visitors may find Westinghouse collection at the Heinz History Center. In this article, we provide our readers with the address, phone number and website of the Heinz History Center.
