Opportunities

Family Cabins: From the second Friday in April until the third Friday in December, Clear Creek State Park offers twenty-two rustic family vacation cabins for weekly rentals.

Family Campground: Fifty-three tent and trailer campsites are available in a beautiful woodland setting.

Hiking: There are approximately 15 miles of well maintained trails through the park area. A one-half mile exercise trail is provided in the large cabin area. Rhododendron and mountain laurel abound throughout the park and many varieties of wildlife, including deer, bear, turkey and grouse are seen in the area.

Canoeing: The Clarion River provides excellent canoeing especially during the spring and fall. The river is a class "C" waterway with an average downward flow of 4 miles per hour.

A popular canoe trip lasting approximately 4.5 hours is the 10-mile trip from Clear Creek to Cook Forest State Park. Rental canoes are available from commercial sources outside the park. No boat launching permits are required. A canoe launching area is available near the family cabin area.

Environmental Education: An environmental interpretation program is in operation during the summer months. This program includes free guided walks and evening campfire programs in the camping area. An environmental interpreter is also available to explain and interpret the natural phenomena of the park for the public. A visitor center with logging and nature exhibits is open nine months of the year.

Fishing: Stocked and native brook trout are found in Clear Creek and the Clarion River. Both waterways provide angling for northern pike, smallmouth bass, walleye and all species of panfish. Nearby streams provide good fishing for trout and warm water species. Pennsylvania Fish Commission laws apply.

Hunting: Two hundred and ten acres of park land are open to hunting, trapping and the training of dogs from the fall archery deer season through March 31, of the following year. Common game species are white-tail deer, bear, squirrels and wild turkey.
