Oil Creek State Park consists of 7,026 acres in Crawford and Venango counties. The park adjoins Drake Well Museum and the city of Titusville at its northern end, and Oil City is 4 miles from the southern end. The main entrance to the park is off PA Route 8, 1 mile north of the Borough of Rouseville.
The park consists of deep hollows, steep hills, wetlands, and a beautiful, meandering creek - 13.5 miles of the scenic Oil Creek Gorge. The primary purpose of Oil Creek State Park is to tell the story of the early petroleum industry by identifying oil boom towns, important oil well sites, transportation points and cemeteries.
An outdoor classroom is located near Petroleum Centre for use by school groups. The area contains a bus parking lot, picnic shelter, restrooms, activity field, and 4 theme trails. A 9.5 mile paved bicycle trail through scenic Oil Creek Gorge is a major park attraction. Over 52 miles of hiking and interpretive trails lead visitors through areas rich in historic and scenic interest.A major hiking trail of over 36 miles encompasses the entire park. The main trail is marked with yellow paint blazes and five connecting loops (for shorter day hikes) with white blazes.
A canoe launch point is located at the bike trail parking area near Drake Well. Take-out points are located at Petroleum Centre, Blood Farm and Rynd Farm. Distance between Drake Well and Rynd Farm is 13.5 miles.A delayed harvest-artificial lure only area covers 1.5 miles of Oil Creek, from the Petroleum Centre bridge downstream to the Oil Creek and Titusville Railroad bridge.
