Ellwood

Henry Waters Hartman purchased the land, which is now Ellwood City, in 1889, intending to create an industrial center. Now, over 100 years later, his vision is still holding true.

Mr. Hartman named the new city after his longtime friend Col. Isaac Ellwood, inventor of the barbed wire fence.

Ellwood City hosts the Arts and Crafts Festival. For more than twenty years, the three-day festival has featured arts, crafts, food, and entertainment. Every July, the festival attracts 60,000 visitors to the area.

Christmas in the Park is held in December, and Christmas light displays fill Ewing Park for a drive or walking tour of the holiday decorations.

Ellwood has many recreational facilities, both public and private, which are exceptional for a city of this size.
