Apollo

Apollo was founded in 1816. It occupies 0.3 square miles. The population of Apollo borough is approximately 1,895, and the approximate number of families is 863.

The Apollo Area Historical Society, located in Apollo, PA, maintains Drake's Log Cabin and the local historical museum, located in the old W.C.T.U. building. Society meets at 7:00 PM on the first Thursday of every month at the W.C.T.U. building on 2nd Avenue in Apollo, PA.

Several members of the Apollo Area Historical Society are recording conversations with local residents. They are attempting to preserve the precious memories of our town, and these cassette recordings will also become a valuable part of our museum.

The building was erected in 1909 as the Apollo headquarters for the Women’s Christian Temperance Union. It housed the first public library in Apollo and Armstrong County. The building is now the home of the Apollo Area Historical Society and its museum.
Drake's Log Cabin is a one-room log cabin that shows how early settlers lived. Items from the era are on display.
