Downtown Churches of New Castle

Downtown New Castle has four lovely churches. They are the First Christian Church built in 1865, the First Presbyterian Church built in 1896, Trinity Episcopal built in 1907 and Saint Mary's circa 1927. All have lovely architecture and magnificent stained glass. Trinity has two Tiffanys. The First Christian Church was the site of some of Billy Sunday's famous meetings.

Atop the Highland Avenue hill in New Castle sits the cathedral (formerly known as The Scottish Rite Cathedral). The Cathedral was built from 1924 to 1926. Neo Classical in design, it boasts the largest indoor auditorium between New York and Chicago.
