Mrs. Smith works with Mr. Bridson, assembling bibliographic data related to various departmental activities. Her current project is entering into electronic form the Institute's author catalog of botanical articles published in world periodicals between 1730 and 1840. This manuscript file of some 85,000 slips was initially created by field workers in American and European libraries as part of the Bibliographia Huntiana project in the 1960s and 1970s.
In the past, she assisted with the compilation of Botanicum-Periodicum-Huntianum and Botanicum-Periodicum-Huntianum/Supplementum. Mrs. Smith also assists Mr. White in updating the Catalogue of the Botanical Art Collection at the Hunt Institute and the Taxonomic Index, which is of special importance to botanists searching for images for floras or monographs. It has been her pleasure to travel extensively in this country and worldwide. She also enjoys gardening, the theater, and music.
