Glessner Covered Bridge

Glessner Covered Bridge is a well-preserved example of 19th-century American bridge engineering located in Stonycreek Township of Somerset County. Built in 1881 by Tobias Glessner, this historic structure spans the Stonycreek River along Covered Bridge Road, and remains open to vehicular traffic under county ownership and maintenance.

Measuring 90 feet in length and 12 feet in width, the bridge features classic Burr Arch truss construction, a design known for its combination of strength and elegance. The bridge underwent a significant reconstruction in 1998, ensuring its continued functionality while preserving its historical character. Glessner Covered Bridge stands as a historic landmark - connecting not just roads, but generations, representing a local heritage.
